Dear Reader,
We are back with a bang after a brief lull. For the first time in 37 years of our publish- ing legacy, AMEFT Journal had to stay away from our cherished readers during the last three quarters of the year 2020. It is for the welfare and safety of all our readers, we had to slow down during the global pandemic, and hence the delay.
Back on our feet, we are catching up with the industry developments. The journal is all set to cope up with the new normal. The shift to this digital issue became a necessity considering the readers’ safety and to ensure faster delivery. We are dili- gently working to keep up the integrity and essence of our journal. We are setting new agendas to accomplish new heights. From now on, Asia and Middle East Food Trade journal will be published from Thiruvananthapuram, capital city of Kerala, the southernmost state of India.
While the first three issues, starting from December 2020 will be having only the digitalized versions, the October 2021 issue will have printed and digital copies along with bonus distribution at the Gulfood Manufacturing Trade Show in November 2021.
In the next four issues, we will be featuring a range of food segments, including bakery & chocolate, meat, poultry & fish, dairy, beverages & confectionery, and much more. Time is changing and so are the concerns of customers. For example, during this Covidian times, consumers are more concerned about the traceability of the products. Included in this issue are topics such as food safety and sustainability, which are gaining relevance these days.
When it comes to food culture, ‘hygiene’ is the buzz word. The latest available tech- nologies to ensure food hygiene are yet another topic included in this issue besides the new trends in the food and food storage sectors across the countries.
As the saying goes, we are what we eat. So keeping aside all our differences, people from diverse verticals are agreeing upon one thing which is ‘good food’. Let us strive to serve it better!
Wishing you all a prosperous, peaceful and happy New Year!
