Dear AMEFT Readers,
When it comes to alliances between nations, every segment of progress and development is important, be it exchange of ideas in the field of science and technology or trade relations in terms of imports and exports. The association between Germany and India is so deeply intertwined that it has touched various sectors of development with both the countries gaining significantly in their individual and collective paths to progress.
For no other reason has the trade volume between the countries increased multifold since the past three decades. Germany is India’s largest trading partner in the European Union and both countries share a collaborative relation in traditional sectors as well as knowledge-oriented verticals. Today, more than 200 Indian
companies successfully operate in Germany and universities in both these countries jointly collaborate in some 150 research projects in the field of science and technology.
The young population of the world’s largest democracy boasts rightfully of its talented manpower while Germany has its strength in high precision manufacturing; put together, newer vistas in
High Technology sectors are bound to emerge. An augmented business relation will create further investment opportunities, deepening the existing ties between the nations.
Food, an indispensable part of sustenance and economy, has been another sector where Germany had liaised with India, lending a helping hand to the rural farmers of India apart from delivering support in the food processing and packaging segments.
At this juncture, let me recollect that The Asia and Middle East Food Trade journal has been catering to the business firms in the food sector in Europe, Middle East and Asia for the past 37 years. The jour- nal which was published from Germany till early this year has
shifted its operations to India and will be published from Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala henceforth. I wish the journal all success and hope it retains the essence and integrity,
which saw it in good stead all these years.
Best Wishes,
Dr. Syed Ibrahim
Honorarkonsul der Bundesrepublik Deutschland Honorary Consul of the Federal Republic of Germany Trivandrum/Kerala, India.
