 First Order: Werner & Metz company in Mainz, ordered 10 “Ganzhorn” filling machines for the production of “Erd- al” shoe polish in 1900.
Own Business: Karl Ganzhorn started his own business in 1900 and he teamed up with Friedrich Kling in 1905. Kling joined the company as "silent partner" and Ganzhorn & Kling was the new company name.
The Separation: During World War I the company was gi- ven special order for manufacturing of filling machines for army catering. Ganzhorn and Kling separated in the middle of World War I.
Name Remains: With a new partner, watchmaker Wil- helm Stirn, the company Ganzhorn & Stirn continued to develop. In 1916, Karl Ganzhorn left the company, but the founder’s name remained – Ganzhorn & Stirn became the new company name.
The Move: In 1919, Stirn and his people moved to the former cement factory in Steinbach. In 1921, with over 100 employees, customized equipment solutions became a tra- de mark as Wilhelm Stirn was very successful with his new ideas.
Shortened Name: Shorter company name 'GASTI' was formed from GA for Ganzhorn and STI for Stirn. In 1947 Wilhelm Stirn passed away and Hans Sehl, successfully ma- naged the company.
Filling Machine: In 1950s GASTI introduced its first filling machines for tubes (Gnom).

1975: 500th machine ready for delivery
Aseptic Processing: In 1970s, GASTI became one of the first suppliers to develop special machinery for sterile cup packaging.
The Milestone: In 1977 the first aseptic filling and sealing machine (DOGASEPTIC 42) was delivered.
The Mark: In 1978, the 500th GASTI packaging machine was delivered.
Going International: In 1981 the owner Dieter Sehl (son of Hans Sehl) sold the company with 450 employees to Rheinmetall AG. Success followed as the company sold a machine to an Arabian company at a trade fair in Jeddah in 1983.
Taken Over: In 2000, the IWKA Group took over the com- pany from Rheinmetall AG.
Sold Out: In 2007, the packaging machine division of IWKA AG was sold and joined the Odewald & Cie. portfolio and was introduced as OYSTAR Group to the market.
Italian Touch: In 2014, the OYSTAR Group was sold to the Italian packaging machine manufacturer IMA S.p.A. and the IMA DAIRY & FOOD division- to which GASTI belongs - was created.
Till Date: In 2018, Mr. Thomas Becker took over 60% of the shares in the IMA DAIRY & FOOD group; 40% are still owned by IMA S.p.A.
