Weber Maschinenbau invests in ultra-modern production plant
Weber Maschinenbau, one of the leading system suppliers for slic- ing applications as well as automa- tion and packaging of fresh products, has continuously invested in state-of- the-art production technology, and primarily in automation. A particu- larly impressive investment was pre- sented and its start-up celebrated at the Neubrandenburg site in August: a new sheet metal construction produc- tion plant. In the presence of guests from commerce and politics, Tobias Weber, CEO of Weber Maschinenbau, company founder Günther Weber, Dr. Stefan Rudolph, Minister of State for Economic Affairs of the Federal State of Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, and Bernd Jaehner, Sales at TRUMPF, offi- cially started up the plant.
With this new, fully automated plant from TRUMPF, the company could pro- duce stainless steel parts and compo- nents that are required for the produc- tion of slicing and packaging lines in the food industry in a highly efficient and networked manner. “This investment first and foremost adds great value for our customers as new production ca-

The world’s most modern metal automation has gone into operation in Neubrandenburg. The family owned Weber Maschinenbau which is managed by CEO Tobias Weber, the eldest son
of the company founder Günther Weber, supplies weight-accurate slicing to the precise infeeding and packaging of sausage, meat, and cheese.
pacities are available that allow us to work even quicker. This expansion also
creates new jobs”, explains Tobias We- ber, CEO of Weber Maschinenbau. In the past, the lasering and bending of stainless steel parts created a bottle- neck in the production process. It was therefore impossible to grow further and increase capacities. The new laser- ing and bending automation resolves this bottleneck and a greater number of parts can be supplied for subse- quent processing steps. This secures the location and creates both growth and more jobs in downstream process- es. The company has always relied on a great production depth. “For me, de- velopment and production are closely linked,” comments Weber.
Thanks to the high degree of auto- mation and comprehensive network between the individual machines, the plant is going to operate 24/7, which will reduce the laser down- times by 30% and the bending pro- cessing times by 40%. The new sheet metal automation cost around EUR 3.4 million. The investment was sub- sidized with EUR 800,000 in grants from the Federal State of Mecklen- burg-Vorpommern.
