AUSA based global manufacturer of snack production systems, Read- ing Bakery Systems (RBS) introduced a new multi-pass environmentally con- trolled proofer that accelerates dough development time in a reduced pro- duction footprint.
An environmentally controlled proofer is instrumental in creating many snack foods, as the yeasts and cultures inside the dough require time to develop. Flavor, color, and texture of
the final product are all affected by this proofing process and when tempera- ture and humidity levels are precisely controlled, product consistency and quality are improved.
“With the new RBS Multi-Pass Proof- er achieving snack product consisten- cy, while improving operational effi- ciencies, has never been easier. We can achieve 42 Meters of proof distance in a 9.0-meter-long proofing enclosure, by controlling heat and humidity via
an intuitive PLC. This flexible, efficient, and simple to use system is exactly what today’s snack food producers are looking for”, said Cameron Johnston, Director, Engineering, RBS.
Additionally, performance of the multi-pass proofer is optimized by a full enclosure around the machine for better chamber efficiency, and the machine is easy to maintain with mul- tiple enclosure doors for cleaning and inspection.

RBS Multi-Pass Proofer: Lowering production footprint
Firmenich maintains CDP Triple “A” for the fourth time
Firmenich, the world’s largest privately-owned fra- grance and taste company, has been awarded a fourth consecutive Triple “A” by CDP for the Group’s leadership in transparency and action on climate change, water se- curity and forestry protection. Appraised as the gold stan- dard of corporate environmental reporting, CDP places Firmenich among only 14 companies worldwide that achieved a Triple “A” listing in 2021, out of more than 12,000 that were scored based on data they submitted to CDP.
“We are very proud to be recognized for our consistent and demonstrable world-leading environmental perfor- mance with a CDP Triple “A” for the fourth year in a row, one of only two companies across all business sectors to achieve this,” said Gilbert Ghostine, CEO of Firmenich. Fir- menich is committed to leading its industry towards car- bon neutrality in its direct operations by 2025 and carbon positivity beyond that date.
Paul Simpson, CEO of global environmental non-profit CDP, said, “The scale of the risk to businesses from cli- mate change, water insecurity and deforestation can no
longer be ignored, and we know the opportunities of ac- tion far outweigh the risks of inaction. Leadership from the private sector is essential for securing global ambi- tions for a net-zero, nature positive and equitable world. Our A List celebrates those companies who are preparing themselves to excel in the economy of the future by tak- ing action today.”
“To address the climate urgency, organizations need to set ambitious science-based targets and transition to low-car- bon practices.” said Neil McFarlane, Senior VP Global Qual- ity, Health, Safety & Environment, Firmenich.
Firmenich has stepped up progress towards ground- breaking ESG goals across three key areas: acting on cli- mate change, embracing nature and caring about people. Firmenich achieved 100% renewable electricity in 2020, an industry first, and expanded implementation to com- panies newly acquired since then in order to maintain renewable electricity across all the Group’s operations in 2021. Its new ESG Ambitions for 2030 set out concrete actions for urgent progress towards its vision of a zero- impact future while growing the business.
