is this the company’s first step into aseptic PET bottling, but also its first experience with dry preform steriliza- tion. Employing the injection of hydro- gen peroxide (H2O2) before the oven, Sidel’s patented Predis technology re- quires no water consumption and can reduce the use of chemicals signifi- cantly. This is a lighthouse project for PepsiCo Inc. worldwide regarding the processing and bottling of its high-acid products – the Tropica- na juices. The Aseptic CombiPredis also features a similar dry steriliza- tion for caps, CapdisTM, as it was very important to optimize the cleaning process and the handling of the caps themselves to avoid deformation and ensure tightness between the cap and the bottle.
“RJ Corp chose Sidel because of our long-standing expertise in PET and aseptic technologies. Their new line allows for up to 200 hours of continu- ous production without any stoppages for cleaning, keeping the production running steadily without any compro- mise on product quality. Moreover, the equipment is easy to manage, and the operators find its functions intui- tive and easily accessible,” says Rohit Sawhney, Sales Director for Sidel India.

Optimized and efficient packaging line
To understand its line operations and maximize Overall Equipment Ef- fectiveness, RJ Corp also invested in Sidel’s Efficiency Improvement Tool (EIT®). This modular and scalable soft- ware provides the most significant performance indicators, reports and analyzes, based on live and historical data, to better understand line flow, uncover sources of efficiency loss and achieve in-depth performance evalu- ation. It monitors quality, losses, con- sumption, accumulation and tracea- bility, and interfaces with inspection devices and business systems.
To make the most of this line, spe- cific training was delivered to enable all RJ Corp technicians to get the right understanding of aseptic PET packa- ging, including the Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point system (HACCP), and thus avoid any risk of contamina- tion or detect root causes efficiently in case it happens. Since its implementa- tion and validation, the line has been working successfully with an output up to 36,000 bottles per hour. Overall, it expands production capabilities in terms of volume as well as a higher number of SKUs.
