The first ambient zero-fat, low su- gar yogurt drinks with chewable pieces were launched in Thailand by Dairy Farming Promotion Organiza- tion of Thailand (DPO). Thanks to SIG - the leading systems and solutions provider for aseptic packaging, for its unique drinksplus technology that hel- ped DPO to come up with this innova- tive drink.
The new range of yoghurt drinks called Chew-D offers consumers a healthy yet interesting new taste ex- perience. The fat-free and low sugar passion fruit-flavored yoghurt drink contains chewable pearls from the konjac plant, which grows in the tro- pical region. This market innovation is available in combiblocMini 200 ml car- ton packs from SIG and can be filled on SIG’s standard filling machines for beverages.

Chew-D ambient yoghurt drinks are valuable not just as components of a balanced diet, but also as a perceived and rated added value. Their special consistency provides great taste and a fun drinking experience. SIG’s new yet proven drinksplus technology makes it possible to aseptically fill carton packs with beverages containing up to 10 % pieces taken from fruits and vegeta- bles to nuts and grains.
Acting DPO Deputy Director, Suchart Chariyalertsak says, “With the launch of Chew-D using SIG’s drinksplus tech- nology, DPO has been able to enter a new market segment and bring true innovation to the Thai beverage mar- ket. This new product development also brings added value for our com- pany, as we’ve been able to easily pro- duce drinksplus products on our exi- sting filling technology from SIG.”
