Rational says advanced cooking systems can help with staff shortages
TECHNOLOGY & SUSTAINABILITY
Intelligent ‘Rational’ solution to maximize chefs’ productivity
Rational is showing how its technol- ogy can help with staff shortages by focusing on the subject in its train- ing programmes. “We want to ensure that operators with our intelligent cooking systems can exploit this key benefit,” says Adam Knights, Market- ing Director of Rational UK. “By devel- oping cooking systems with this level of intelligence, Rational has created a solution for many of the problems we will face in the post-pandemic, post- Brexit world – especially the need to be more productive with fewer peo- ple.”, he added.
Rational’s cooking systems have in- built intelligence, in the shape of the advanced iCookingSuite technology. It gives the systems the ability to take over the cooking process, let- ting chefs get on with other tasks. It

can recognize the food’s weight, size and condition and it will automati- cally adjust cooking parameters to ensure chef gets the best possible results. “Chefs can rely on the iCook- ingSuite to assess, monitor and com- plete cooking processes – tasks that would have taken up the time of one or more members of the kitchen bri- gade team in the past,” says Knights. In other words, it’s like having an ex- tra assistant in the kitchen – and can be a crucial aid in any kitchen facing the challenge of staff shortages.
In fact, iCookingSuite actually learns from its users, so that it copies preferred cooking habits and results. Of course, if chefs want to add a new touch to the food, they can intervene at any point during the cooking process.
“Staff turnover can mean that the
knowledge gained during training is lost, and that our customers revert to manual operation instead of taking ad- vantage of the intelligent cooking sys- tems. To avoid them having to do that we are offering continuous training, so customers can carry on operating the cooking systems to their maximum po- tential. All our customers are welcome to participate in our continuous train- ing programmes, however new or old their Rational cooking system is,” says Knights.
Operators have a choice of how they access the Rational training pro- grammes. They can ask for training on site, use Rational’s training app or the ConnectedCooking platform, book onto an Expert Chef Live online webinar or talk to a regional sales manager by using Rational’s ChefLine phone service.
